About the Role

This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the screening of potential client engagements in accordance with the firm's risk management procedures and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze financial information, regulatory and litigation histories, and recent news from external corporate and governmental databases from a risk management and due diligence perspective.
  • Work with intake attorneys and reviewing attorneys in evaluating risk management issues related to new clients and matters.
  • Assess financial viability of potential new matters through external corporate research and analysis.
  • Run special searches to identify potential risk management or business issues with respect to incoming lateral attorneys, potential mergers, and other special circumstances.
  • Participate in special projects involving new business intake best practices and risk management initiatives within the Information Governance department.
  • Assist the Conflicts team in assessing whether a conflict of interest exists.
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance Committee Paralegals to assist Claims Counsel and General Counsel with interpreting and executing Litigation Holds, Subpoenas, and Protective Orders.
  • Assist in the Outside Counsel Guidelines intake process.
  • Assist with other research and administrative tasks, and/or support cross-departmental teams as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience compiling and analyzing risk assessment reports
  • Prior experience with corporate risk assessment research and analysis and/or investigative due diligence
  • Ability to analyze, cross-reference and summarize findings from third-party proprietary databases and public records
  • Understanding of KYC/AML requirements
  • Ability to read financial statements
  • Knowledge of and ability to analyze SEC filings
  • Familiarity with current trends in the legal and financial services industries
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Strong attention to detail, analysis, proofreading and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service skills, including understanding and responding quickly to a variety of inquiries
  • Ability to contribute ideas for process improvements
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines with expedited turnaround times
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Intapp and data intake processing software
