Responsibilities
- Perform visual and dimensional inspection of mechanical components and assemblies to close tolerance.
- Conduct first piece and in-process inspection within the assigned value stream.
- Identify defects (surface, dimensional, visual, material, documentation, workmanship) against blueprints and quality standards.
- Report non-conforming materials or unusual conditions to the Quality Supervisor and Manufacturing Manager.
- Utilize conventional and advanced inspection devices, CMM tools, and instruments to verify dimensions against drawing specifications.
- Maintain necessary records, data, and logs.
- Create inspection forms, including IMS and first article forms.
- Prepare products and paperwork for customer or source inspector presentation.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to safety and environmental procedures.
- Report safety incidents to the supervisor.
- Recommend improvements to work processes and procedures.
- Contribute to 5S programs in the work area.
- Provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
- Foster a positive teamwork environment.
- Obtain necessary fixtures and gauging to verify parts are within specified parameters.
- Select gauging to minimize repeatability and reproducibility of measured parameters.
- Identify and report out-of-tolerance conditions via a nonconforming material report (NCR).
- Inspect purchased materials and components, verifying certifications and test reports to ensure PO compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including participating in training and learning other positions.
Requirements
- Solid knowledge of GD & T.
- Working knowledge of measuring tools and devices.
- Ability to interpret blueprints.
- Ability to diagnose out-of-tolerance conditions.
- Effective communication skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel.
- High sense of urgency and ability to meet schedule requirements.
