About the Role
A post-doctoral research position is available in the group of Dr. Barrat at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) Institute as part of the Inflammation and Autoimmunity Program. The ideal candidate has background in immunology and is interested in studies involving innate immunity in the context of human diseases. This position provides opportunities for individuals interested in developing strong translational research experience.
Responsibilities
- Design and perform experiments utilizing molecular, cellular, and genetic techniques as well as mouse models to answer questions about how innate inflammation regulates fibrosis and wound healing in various in vitro and in vivo models.
- Train new or current lab members and colleagues.
- Maintain lab function with other lab members.
- Present at lab meetings and represent the lab at other local, national, and international forums.
- Draft manuscripts for publications.
- Contribute to obtaining data for grant applications.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or M.D. degree.
- Background in cellular and molecular biology.
- Understanding of the field of immunometabolism.
- Strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently.
- High level of motivation and independence.
- Ability to think critically.
- Proficient in the use of computers and software, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Technical proficiency and ability to work independently.
- Analytical skills.
- Experience with mouse models is desirable.
- Excellent technical capabilities with primary cell cultures and/or strong expertise in molecular biology.
