About the Role
NewsNation is seeking a Segment Producer for its nightly program On Balance w/ Leland Vittert. This role contributes story ideas, compiles elements, and crafts engaging live segments and packages on diverse topics. The producer collaborates with executive and senior producers to ensure accurate and compelling broadcasts.
Responsibilities
- Pitch stories and segment ideas regularly
- Research topics using the Internet, video archives, and other information sources
- Select strongest possible elements to help best tell stories
- Write, organize, and produce scripts and elements for show and interview segments or packages
- Assist in preparing and executing live, compelling television newscasts
- Keep Executive Producer and Senior Producer apprised of developments of stories
- Assist in the control room if needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Producer and Senior Producer or network leadership
Requirements
- Experience producing for a national news program or producing newscasts in a top 10 market
- Experience covering politics and government
- Strong news judgement
- Quick decision maker and creative thinker
- Effective coach and mentor to staff of all experience levels
- Collaborative team player who advocates for their show but find ways to elevate network reporting
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to adapt to change, meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency with ENPS
- Flexibility to work different shifts

Salary/Compensations
- $75,000 to $90,000
