About the Role
Upper Canada Child Care is seeking a Registered Early Childhood Educator to join their Team in North York at the Three Valleys PS location. This position is to fill a new vacancy and requires candidates to be available for a minimum of 5 assigned shifts per month.
Responsibilities
- Applies professional knowledge of child development and current legislative expectations to support a program consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and Upper Canada Child Care’s program statement.
- Adheres to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as outlined by the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Keeps team and supervisor apprised of compliance issues or problems related to governing regulation and internal policy.
- Engages with children and provides a positive learning experience, including assisting with meals/snacks, toileting, diapering, and dressing.
- Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings, and training sessions as required.
- Completes program charts, daily logs, reports, and other administration tasks.
- Provides guidance to assistant educators, students, and volunteers.
- Models expectations for student teachers from colleges, universities, secondary schools, etc., and completes required documentation.
- Fosters engagement and communication with parents regarding the program and their children, attending parent and community meetings as needed.
- Uses Storypark for pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development.
- Collaborates and communicates effectively with team members, school personnel, and outside agencies to support children's needs.
- Identifies children needing additional support, guides parents in accessing resources, and helps design and implement individual support plans.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized college or university.
- A recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
- At least 18 years of age or older due to licensing requirements.
- Health assessment and up-to-date record of immunization as outlined by legislation.
- Up-to-date registration with the College of ECEs.
- Up-to-date certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid (training provided upon selection if required).
- Experience with inquiry/play based program design and implementation, and with the use of pedagogical documentation.
- Uses initiative; applies sound reason in solving problems and resolves conflict in a calm, professional manner.
- Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, coworkers, and other professionals.
- Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces.
- Ability to use computer systems and programs, including Dayforce and Storypark.
- Moderate level of physical effort is regularly required, including kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending, and carrying.

- RECE: $27.35 - $31.15/hour (includes General Operating Grant) plus Wage Enhancement Grant (up to $2.00/hr)
