About the Role
Legal Content Policy & Standards (LCPS) develops and operationalizes scalable policies for legal content compliance across Google's products and services. We manage requests from external parties globally to remove potentially illegal content, aiming to strengthen user trust by safeguarding access to information, preserving user expression, and protecting intellectual property.
Responsibilities
- Identify and analyze content moderation trends and policy/regulatory issues affecting the Internet in the Americas.
- Lead discussions with cross-functional stakeholders on emerging regulations and their implications for Google's legal removals landscape.
- Manage content operations and drive escalations of sensitive government requests by liaising with Product, Policy, Communications, and Legal teams.
- Balance various legal considerations to effectively resolve issues.
- Develop and launch scalable policies and guidelines for handling large volumes of requests based on regional trends and legal issues (data protection, copyright, defamation).
- Participate in the on-call rotation schedule to manage high-priority escalations outside of standard work hours, including weekends/holidays.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust & Safety, or technology environment.
