About the Role
The Global Legal team provides legal advice and guidance to OKX and its affiliated entities. The Strategic Partnerships and Institutions legal team seeks a commercially savvy senior lawyer as Deputy General Counsel to cover strategic partnerships, supporting global institutional and trading businesses, and the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) platform. This role is crucial for shaping strategy and ownership in a fast-moving environment where legal frameworks are evolving.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an attorney on all strategic partnerships and trading arrangements, including strategic alliances, partnership agreements, cooperation agreements, incentive agreements, exchange integrations, staking, co-investments, and alliances.
- Draft, negotiate, and manage high-stakes commercial agreements, joint ventures, and technology alliances to scale business growth safely.
- Advise on complex cross-border transactions, crypto product structuring, and multi-jurisdictional regulatory compliance.
- Act as a key legal advisor within the global strategic partnership legal team, focusing on strategic partnerships, trading, and P2P platforms, ensuring compliance and robust legal support.
- Translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, commercially actionable guidance for product, engineering, and executive teams.
- Collaborate closely with product development and business development teams to ensure new products, services, and business initiatives align with regulatory requirements and advance company strategic goals.
- Address additional matters as advised by legal team leaders, responding to new challenges and opportunities within the legal landscape.
Requirements
- Must hold a law degree and be eligible to practice as an advocate.
- Senior lawyer with at least 10+ years experience working at a law firm, digital assets firm or a top tier financial institution.
- Proven track record at a top-tier law firm or in-house role at a top financial institution, with experience in the digital assets sector.
- Meaningful, deal-level exposure to strategic partnerships including cooperation agreements and incentive agreements.
- Must have flexibility to work on various commercial and transactional deals.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multicultural, and growth-oriented environment.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, works well under pressure and able to cope with tight deadlines.
- Excellent drafting and communication skills.
- Strong skills in building trust and providing effective legal advice to business teams, with the capability to navigate rapidly evolving legal landscapes.
- A highly collaborative team member who is comfortable within a high-functioning multicultural legal department.
