About the Role

This role is responsible for checking out customer purchases, providing friendly customer service, answering questions, maintaining memberships, and placing special orders. The position also involves stocking products, maintaining attractive displays, cleaning, and creating a welcoming environment for everyone.

Responsibilities

  • Check out customer purchases quickly and accurately.
  • Handle customer needs and complaints courteously and efficiently.
  • Answer customer questions about co-op policies and membership options.
  • Assist customers with special orders.
  • Answer phone calls promptly.
  • Restock self-service items in the café.
  • Maintain the coffee & tea bar.
  • Follow procedures for receiving, handling, and storing prepared foods.
  • Ensure freshness of prepared food items through rotation and quality checks.
  • Stock shelves and displays fully, ensuring accurate labeling and pricing.
  • Notify buyers of out-of-stocks and pull short-date or low-quality items.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the store.
  • Piece check produce deliveries against invoices for quality and accuracy.
  • Pull wilted or rotting produce and keep displays clean.
  • Ensure produce displays and cases are full.
  • Notify management of any produce discrepancies or out-of-stocks.
  • Check deliveries for piece count and notify purchasers of discrepancies.
  • Check deliveries for damage and unacceptable quality.
  • Organize overstock into storage.
  • Keep shelves, coolers, and backstock areas clean and orderly.
  • Ensure department equipment is in working order and advise management of problems.
  • Participate in periodic inventory counts.
  • Assist with unloading deliveries as needed.
  • Route invoices to the buyer.
  • Maintain sales floor and backstock according to training and protocols.
  • Remove unsaleable items from shelves.
  • Ensure produce bins, aisles, shelves, and storage areas are clean and meet health standards.
  • Remove trash promptly and sweep floors as needed.
  • Follow safety rules and report unsafe equipment and conditions.
  • Assist other employees with safety needs.
  • Participate in safety training programs.
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and huddles.
  • Read company publications to stay informed.
  • Comply with store personnel policies.
  • Describe membership benefits and investment process.
  • Adhere to scheduled shifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
