About the Role
Northwell Health Department of Thoracic Surgery is seeking a board-certified, full-time Thoracic Surgical Physician Assistant to join its group at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. This hospital-based position focuses on the care and management of thoracic surgery patients.
Responsibilities
- Rounding on hospitalized thoracic surgery patients.
- Performing daily clinical assessments.
- Reviewing laboratory and diagnostic results.
- Developing and implementing care plans in collaboration with the thoracic surgery team.
- Assisting with discharge planning and coordination of care.
- Working collaboratively with thoracic surgeons, nursing staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team to provide high-quality postoperative and inpatient care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- NCCPA certified.
- Strong clinical assessment skills.
- Strong inpatient care skills.
- Strong patient management skills.
- At least one year of thoracic surgery, surgical, or inpatient experience preferred.
- Manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity.
- Some occupational risk.
- Medium to heavy physical effort, may exert up to 35 lbs. force.
- Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
