About the Role
The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry advances understanding of biochemical mechanisms for diagnostics and therapeutics. The selected candidate will join the Irwin Research Group, specializing in computational chemistry for small molecule identification and design to support research at the intersection of chemistry and biology.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes basic software tools to analyze or interpret biological or research data of limited scope and complexity.
- Assist with the use of chemical databases and their graphical user.
- Assist with molecular docking methods and workflows.
- Assist with training AI models and applying established methods to ultra-large chemical spaces.
- Assists with documentation for implementation of changes to operational systems and databases.
- Support documentation and troubleshooting efforts related to current computational issues in the lab.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in biological science, computational / programming, or related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Basic knowledge of bioinformatics methods and data structures.
- Basic knowledge of applications programming and web development.
- Basic knowledge of databases.
- Basic project management skills.
- Basic knowledge of modern biology and applicable field of research.
- Interpersonal skills to work with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
- Self-motivated, able to learn quickly, meet deadlines, and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
