About the Role

The Director of Workforce & Academic Partnerships serves as the university’s lead business development officer for employer-sponsored education and workforce development programs. This role involves curating and developing policy frameworks to ensure success and assisting academic units in developing partnerships and educational programs to expand the university's impact and generate sustainable revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the curation and development of policies and procedures to support academic partnerships and workforce development programs.
  • Architect programmatic solutions that address partner opportunities and foster relationships with employers, professional organizations, and public-sector partners for credit and non-credit workforce education programs.
  • Facilitate connections among employers, faculty, and academic units to advance educational opportunities.
  • Represent the university and the division at state, regional, and national workforce, employer, and government agency engagement activities.
  • Lead the customer discovery process to establish workforce development partnerships.
  • Identify opportunities where employer needs align with existing academic programs, university capabilities, strengths, and faculty expertise.
  • Cultivate the development of programs that align university strengths with employer needs, including those involving proprietary partner data or complex intellectual property rights.
  • Monitor regional and national labor-market trends to ensure the relevance of the university’s workforce and academic partnership portfolio.
  • Utilize data-driven insights and market intelligence to inform new initiative development and future academic programming.
  • Collaborate with deans, faculty, and academic leaders to develop employer-sponsored educational offerings.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, operational development, launch, and evaluation of workforce and academic partnership programs.
  • Ensure all programs have clearly articulated and aligned program-level learning outcomes.
  • Champion flexible program delivery options including online hybrid, on-site corporate training, on-site campus, and executive education formats.
  • Develop business models and partnership agreements that support program sustainability, revenue growth, and revenue sharing with academic units.
  • Develop, track, and report key operational and financial performance indicators and metrics.
  • Provide supervision for the Director of the Center for Continuing Education (CCE) and other staff and graduate students.
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in business administration, higher education administration, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of full-time experience and demonstrated success in building partnerships with industry partners and developing market-responsive educational programs.
  • Experience with leading revenue-generating educational initiatives or business development efforts.
  • Strong strategic planning, organizational leadership, and relationship-building skills.
