About the Role
Dominion Energy's Nuclear Strategic Projects Team is seeking a Consulting Engineer to lead activities related to Subsequent Licensing Renewal (SLR) License Amendment Requests (LARs), ensuring compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements. This role involves managing LAR administration and implementation, and serving as the primary point of contact with internal engineering teams and external contractors.
Responsibilities
- Provide multi-discipline engineering teams with strong technical and project leadership.
- Apply advanced knowledge and technical skills to solve complex engineering problems.
- Plan and coordinate larger scale engineering projects or varied assignments.
- Provide expert technical consultation and assessment on engineering problems and projects.
- Serve as a management consultant on complex engineering problems and issues.
- Control technical, financial, and service commitments to internal or external customers.
- Perform independent research to find innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of engineering experience in the nuclear power industry.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering theories, principles, and practices.
- Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters.
- Recognized expert by other engineers and management.
- Skilled in the use of advanced engineering techniques.
- Strong planning and project management skills.
- Strong technical and organizational leadership skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
- In-depth knowledge of various computer applications and engineering software (e.g., Matlab, Excel).
- Proven decision-making skills.
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices.
- Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Equally effective working independently or in a team environment.
- Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience will be considered.
- Must review ANS 3.1 12/79, ANSI N18.1-1971 or ANSI/ANS 3.1-1993 and DOM-QA-1 as appropriate depending on functional responsibilities and location.

- Bachelor in Engineering
- 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program
- 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord
- 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited
- Valid U.S. Professional Engineer license
