About the Role
Canon USA in Melville, NY is seeking an Accounts Receivable Representative III. This role involves applying cash payments to outstanding invoices, handling complex transactions, and resolving customer payment discrepancies. The position is full-time with a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities
- Applies cash payments received from customers to outstanding invoices, generally involving larger and more complex transactions requiring in-depth analysis.
- Investigates and resolves customer payment discrepancies and handles complex customer payment issues.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Researches unapplied remittances to determine proper invoice application and ensures difficult customer accounts are fully reconciled.
- Processes larger and more complex purge offsets.
- Communicates with Collections personnel to resolve outstanding customer issues and may provide guidance to less experienced team members.
- Processes and sets up customer AR refunds and subsidiary refunds.
- Reconciles credit card payments and supports manager/supervisor with gateway administration.
- Processes more complex transactions and manages more complex tasks related to customer account reconciliations and applications.
- Assists in implementing automation tools to optimize efficiency (AI, Robotics, System Enhancements).
- Assists in enhancement projects, such as system testing and automation.
Requirements
- Typically requires general and/or vocational training plus 4 years of related experience.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and other relevant tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets with the ability to download and manipulate large quantities of data (Pivot tables, Vlookups).
- Thorough understanding of Cash Discount terms.
- Works under minimal supervision, though decisions are made under the close supervision of management.
- Employees have a full understanding of the job role and can apply their well-developed skill set to a range of tasks, some of which are difficult in nature.
- Proven experience in cash application, including bank lockbox management and electronic payment processing.
- Familiarity with E-commerce and Bank Statement Reconciliations.
- Familiarity with RPA and AI.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must reside in the United States at the time of hire.
- The Company will not pursue or support visa sponsorship.
