About the Role
HUB International in Markham, Ontario is seeking an experienced Account Assistant to support the Commercial Practice. This role is ideal for an Insurance Broker with strong administrative support experience, offering a supportive team environment with opportunities for knowledge sharing and development.
Responsibilities
- Execute insurance certificates, leasing confirmations, auto liability slips, binders, statement of values, proposals, and process client documents (endorsements and policies) within established service standards.
- Maintain an effective abeyance system aligned with established service standards.
- Set up clients and prospects in brokerage management systems EPIC and Policy Works.
- Load Policy and Underwriting Information into EPIC, Policy Works, and Aviva RTM.
- Update rate/premium histories and premium comparisons; calculate PST, process invoices, journal entries, premium finance forms, collect aged receivables, and correct commission differences.
- Maintain/Update Summary of Insurance as policy changes occur and at renewal.
- Answer client queries and communicate with insurance companies.
- Assist clients with Certificate Exchange.
- Input claims into the broker management system.
- Update claims history on summaries and/or Policy Works.
- Provide assistance as required and perform other duties assigned by Account Manager and Account Associate.
Requirements
- Post-Secondary education or commensurate work experience.
- RIBO Licensed or in progress.
- 1-2 years of commercial insurance account experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with EPIC or similar insurance broker management systems.
- Strong organizational, time, and client management skills.
- Effective communication skills: verbal and written.
