About the Role
CI is seeking a Data Solutions Designer to join their Data, Analytics & AI (DNA) team. This role will focus on shaping data-driven solutions to enhance investment insights, operational efficiency, and client reporting within the asset management business. You will guide the implementation of end-to-end data flows, contribute to platform architecture and data modeling, and collaborate with various teams to ensure secure, scalable, and well-architected data solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design robust data solutions supporting business intelligence, data processes, analytics and AI/ML initiatives.
- Develop technical flowcharts, data flow diagrams (DFDs), and system interaction models to visualize and validate proposed data solution designs.
- Define data flows from ingestion through transformation, storage, and delivery, including real-time and batch patterns.
- Ensure solutions support both operational and analytical use cases (e.g. dashboards, APIs, external data delivery).
- Partner with data engineering, analytics, and AI teams to evaluate and enhance solution designs.
- Provide guidance on architectural decisions, platform capabilities, and technology choices within our AWS and Snowflake-based ecosystem.
- Design logical and physical data models to support various levels of reporting and analysis.
- Partner with Data Governance to help promote standards for metadata, documentation, and lineage tracking using tools like Alation, DBT and Tableau Data Catalogs.
- Ensure all designs align with platform standards, data governance policies, and regulatory requirements relevant to asset management.
- Contribute to improving data product delivery patterns, reusability, and performance optimization.
- Review proposed solution designs and challenge approaches to ensure strategic alignment, maintainability, and fit-for-purpose outcomes.
- Act as a thought partner in refining how we deliver data, analytics, and AI capabilities to the business.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data solution design, or data engineering—preferably within financial services or asset management.
- Strong understanding of data platforms and architecture, including experience with Snowflake for cloud data warehousing, AWS for cloud services and data pipelines, and dbt for transformation and documentation.
- Demonstrated experience designing data flows and models to support BI, reporting, and/or AI/ML use cases.
- Familiarity with investment data domains such as holdings, transactions, benchmarks, risk, or client reporting.
- Experience with data sharing, APIs, or delivering data to external consumers or partners.
- Experience with building DevOps pipelines for Data and/or AI/ML.
Skills
- End-to-End Solution Design Thinking
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate clearly with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of data governance, quality, privacy, and regulatory considerations in financial environments.
