About the Role

The Planner will be responsible for using project sales orders and engineering releases to determine contractual requirements, and to develop action plans to supply completed detail and sub-assembly parts in the required time frame to support shipping schedules. This role also involves determining required materials, preparing in-house work orders, and coordinating work activities to ensure projects meet scheduled requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand applicable drawings and procedures to determine contract requirements.
  • Generate and maintain outstanding material logs.
  • Select and order raw materials.
  • Initiate requisitions for procurement of materials, detail parts, and services.
  • Coordinate materials and parts shipments to vendors as required.
  • Initiate and maintain work orders, including preparation of shop packages, material pick lists, material verification, and serial number assignment.
  • Continuously maintain and implement contractual changes identified on project and/or engineering releases.
  • Coordinate with and expedite internal/external personnel to ensure timely product support.
  • Identify product shortages and other bottlenecks that may affect production flow.
  • Perform project control responsibilities on assigned projects.
  • Maintain and close out inventory and WIP closed projects.
  • Conduct preliminary inventory reviews for quotation purposes.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and bills of materials.
  • Minimum of five (3) years of experience in Production Planning and/or Inventory Control.
  • At least three (2) years of experience in a computer-oriented environment.
  • Prior experience in a machine shop environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience with ORACLE ERP is desirable.
  • Familiarity with MRP is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Must be able to work independently and make own decisions.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Position may require exposure to export-controlled information and subject to additional security screening.
