About the Role
Paragon Prep is seeking a part-time Middle School Boys Basketball Coach for its 5th/6th grade and 7th/8th grade boys basketball teams. This seasonal position requires fostering skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and a rewarding student experience.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead organized, age-appropriate practices that develop individual skills, team concepts, and game readiness.
- Coach student-athletes during practices, regular-season games, and the end-of-season tournament.
- Create a positive and inclusive team environment grounded in effort, accountability, respect, and sportsmanship.
- Provide clear instruction, constructive feedback, and encouragement appropriate for middle school athletes.
- Prioritize student safety and well-being while following school, facility, and athletic-program policies.
- Communicate professionally with student-athletes, families, school leaders, and opposing teams.
- Assist with game preparation, equipment organization, and other team-related responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Basketball playing and coaching experience required.
- Experience working with middle school athletes required.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, team concepts, and age-appropriate coaching practices.
- A positive, energetic, and team-oriented coaching style.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Dependability and availability for the listed practices, games, and end-of-season tournament.
- Ability to work in person at the school campus and meet the physical demands of coaching basketball.
- Ability to frequently walk, stand, sit, squat, stoop, reach, kneel, rise from the floor, twist, listen, read, write, and speak the English language.
- Ability to often carry, lift, use repetitive or fine hand movements, and occasionally push, pull, or bend.
- Ability to regularly hear and use clear vision with or without correction.
