About the Role
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for prescription verification (PV1 and PV2), oversight of non-sterile compounded medications, and ensuring safe and compliant dispensing practices. This role validates lab-prepared compounds, supports pharmacy technicians, and maintains operational accuracy and workflow efficiency in a fast-paced, execution-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform PV1 and PV2 prescription verification with a high degree of accuracy.
- Conduct final verification prior to fulfillment and shipment.
- Review non-sterile compounded preparations for accuracy, labeling, and documentation.
- Validate formulations prepared by the lab to ensure compliance with internal standards.
- Ensure compliance with USP <795> and USP <800> guidelines.
- Support and oversee pharmacy technicians throughout workflow.
- Maintain efficient processing in a high-volume environment during overnight operations.
- Identify and resolve verification or processing issues.
- Ensure proper handling and documentation of controlled substances.
- Maintain an organized, inspection-ready pharmacy environment.
- Communicate updates and outstanding items for operational continuity and smooth shift handoffs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- PharmD or BS in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
- Active New York Pharmacist license in good standing.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage high-volume prescription workflows.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm.
