About the Role
Swissport is seeking a Ground Handling - Classroom & OJT Trainer to deliver training, evaluate employee performance, and ensure company standards are met. This role also involves serving as an interim supervisor for new hires, providing direction until they can work independently.
Responsibilities
- Deliver detailed training in various formats including instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, e-learning, self-directed, and on-the-job training.
- Oversee practical Ground Handling classroom and OJT, including final assessment and sign-off.
- Adhere to Swissport Corporate and NOAM Training Policy and Procedures, and operate equipment following Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) or Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Monitor and promote best practices across the station.
- Implement internal quality assurance activities, including operational audits.
- Continuously assess station training to ensure staff competence and confidence.
- Maintain compliance levels across the station.
- Communicate effectively with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure training relevance.
- Act as a role model, displaying best practice behavior and procedures.
- Provide objective feedback and coaching to improve performance and behavior.
- Report all training activity through recognized methods for accurate tracking.
- Support nearby stations as needed.
- Forecast and plan for new hire and recurrent training needs in coordination with Regional Training Managers, HR, and Operations teams.
- Deliver and facilitate initial and recurrent training according to global and local standards.
- Administer required examinations and/or reports for training programs to maintain compliance.
- Assist with the New Hire tracking process for a smooth transition.
- Assist with on-the-job coaching programs and serve as tier one support for local certified coaches.
- Maintain operational currency.
- Perform duties requiring sitting, talking, hearing, standing, walking, and occasional use of hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds.
- Utilize specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of industry experience in airline Ground Handling operations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience demonstrating ability to resolve complex problems, foster positive working relationships, and balance competing priorities.
- Ability to travel up to 10% throughout the United States and Canada.
- Ability to pass security clearance.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence without authority.
- Working knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Customer Service oriented.
- Flexibility to work various shifts to accommodate training demands.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and changing environment.
- Ability to create and deliver dynamic presentations, slide decks, and training materials.
