About the Role
Develop, negotiate terms, and service commercial loan relationships in Connecticut and Rhode Island, and generate and maintain an effective client base. This position will be based in one of our branch offices and requires travel within our market area.
Responsibilities
- Growing assigned portfolio, expanding commercial relationships, retention of existing portfolio, and overall customer profitability to the bank.
- Actively engaging in customer outreach, networking, and civic activities to promote the bank.
- Carrying out ongoing business development programs to promote the Bank’s lending and depository services.
- Calling on prospective and existing clients to nurture ongoing loan relationships and to market and cross-sell other Bank services.
- Coordinating schedule for outside calling, branch appointments, and loan support tasks.
- Conducting interviews, determining customer needs, gathering necessary data, determining proper loan structure, and completing credit memos for loan requests.
- Determining borrower risk rating and compliance with bank and regulatory policies in conjunction with the credit analyst.
- Presenting loan renewals, reviews, or new loan requests to the entity or individual with appropriate lending authority.
- Reviewing the loan closing package and attending loan closings.
- Serving as Account Officer for commercial loan relationships up to $9,500,000.
- Communicating with existing customers to facilitate credit reviews, renewals, and new requests and addressing customer concerns/questions.
- Working closely with the Chief Banking Officer in the structuring of any new relationships of $1,000,000 or more.
- Maintaining up-to-date records of transactions in conformance with loan policies.
- Providing continuing financial counseling to customers.
- Assisting in resolving problem situations including loan workout procedures.
- Monitoring the borrower’s financial condition on an ongoing basis.
- Reviewing financial statements, credit analyses, and other information to make an evaluation of their existing portfolio.
Requirements
- Understanding of both CRE and C&I lending and business financial statements.
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of the business credit process.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills (clear, concise, correct).
- Exceptional organization, planning skills; attentive to deadlines and detail.
- Effective decision making, judgment and problem solving skills.
- Ability to take initiative and to work and manage independently.
- Ability to develop, maintain and grow profitable relationships.
- Business sales and prospecting experience required.
- Excellent customer service and relationship skills.
