About the Role
Berry Street is leveraging AI, GLP-1s, and the consumerization of healthcare to make life-changing metabolic care accessible. Our platform connects patients with clinicians and AI tools to treat various chronic and acute conditions, working with health plans and systems across all 50 states. This founding-caliber finance role reports directly to the CEO and owns the finance function end-to-end, including FP&A, accounting, controllership, and capital strategy, at a critical growth stage for the company.
Responsibilities
- Own financial planning & analysis: build and maintain models, forecasts, and budgets.
- Run accounting and controllership: manage close process, AP/AR, cash management, GAAP compliance, and audit readiness.
- Build and own board and investor reporting: create decks, packages, and narratives in partnership with data, operational teams, and the CEO.
- Stand up cross-entity financial infrastructure for leadership visibility across business entities.
- Own unit economics and margin analysis across patient acquisition, clinical delivery, and payer contracts, providing actionable recommendations.
- Partner with the CEO on capital allocation, fundraising, and strategic decisions.
- Build and lead a small finance team as the function scales.
- Establish financial controls and risk management for a multi-entity healthcare business.
Requirements
- An AI operator comfortable with tools like Claude Code or Codex.
- 6+ years in investment banking, private/growth equity, consulting, or an operator finance role at a high-growth startup.
- Experience in a fast-moving, resource-constrained startup environment, ideally Series B–D.
- Ability to build financial infrastructure from a less-than-perfect starting point.
- Exceptional analytical skills; understanding of operating models and ability to build/stress-test financial models from scratch.
- Ownership mindset: proactively identify and build needed systems, processes, or hires.
- Ability to translate between operational reality and board/investor needs.
- Experience hiring and managing people, or readiness to do so.
- Comfort with complexity, including multi-entity businesses and disparate systems.
