About the Role

The AVP/Project Lead will manage day-to-day construction activities for large-scale coastal resiliency projects, ensuring successful project delivery. This role involves overseeing project schedules and budgets, coordinating with stakeholders, and managing project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Director and manage a team of project managers, ensuring their career development and successful project delivery.
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate all aspects of the project schedule, scope, and cost.
  • Manage project initiation, planning, execution, and close-out.
  • Manage on-site project stakeholders.
  • Assure project delivery methods are coordinated with stakeholders and performed safely.
  • Evaluate documents and communicate project goals and expectations to team members.
  • Develop and communicate action plans for the project team.
  • Re-evaluate contract scope of work against project goals and recommend adjustments.
  • Coordinate with the cost management group for cost estimates, studies, reviews, and budget reconciliation.
  • Organize project team processes and maintain electronic and tangible documents.
  • Drive the permitting process by preparing documents for agency submission and ensuring efficient permit progression.
  • Ensure project design management aligns with budget, scope, schedule, and design standards.
  • Manage all aspects of the construction process, including contractors, engineers, architects, consultants, and vendors.
  • Review and approve project scope changes and ensure implementation aligns with contract requirements and BPCA Procurement Guidelines.
  • Manage or assist in managing assessment, planning, engineering, and construction for capital projects.
  • Ensure project controls are followed, including accurate record keeping of as-builts, O/M manuals, and lessons learned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of relevant work experience in large scale construction, resiliency, and/or infrastructure development is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a team of contractors and consultants.
  • Demonstrated experience organizing complex workloads with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Walking and interacting on an active construction site.

Skills

Education Level

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Master’s degree, Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification, Registered Architect (RA), Professional Engineer (PE), or Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications are preferred.
  • Additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
