About the Role
The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking a Senior Economist (Milk Marketing) to analyze and evaluate the dairy industry, milk marketing orders, and agricultural policies to determine economic impacts. This role also serves as Secretary to the New York Dairy Promotion Advisory Board and assists with administrative activities of the Milk Marketing Advisory Board.
Responsibilities
- Assists Department officials in analyzing and evaluating the dairy industry, milk marketing orders, and other state and federal agricultural policies to determine the economic impacts and costs or benefits.
- Serves as Secretary to the New York Dairy Promotion Advisory Board.
- Assists the Department in administrative activities of the Milk Marketing Advisory Board.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in economics or a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 18 semester credit hours in economics and an additional six credits in computer science, economics, econometrics, mathematics, operations research, research methods or statistics.
- Two years of professional experience performing economic research.
- A Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience.
