Responsibilities
- Greets patients and visitors promptly, courteously, and helpfully.
- Obtains patient history and transcribes results into the EHR as dictated by physicians during exams, ensuring accuracy and detail.
- Records physician fee tickets in the EHR as dictated by physicians during exams.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Escorts patients to appropriate areas such as reception, dilating room, or cataract testing.
- Assists physicians by obtaining necessary supplies during patient care.
- Provides assistance to technicians as needed.
- Performs visual acuity tests according to established guidelines.
- Controls patient flow.
- Performs autorefraction and lensometry tests as needed, following established guidelines.
- Performs tonometry according to established guidelines.
- Determines if patients require further testing by a technician and notifies the technician.
- Performs visual field testing, glare testing, color vision testing, and Schirmer's tear testing as required by established guidelines.
- Reviews patient charts and posts test and examination results into the EHR, also entering prior visit information.
- Cleans and sterilizes equipment and maintains the autoclave according to established guidelines and procedures.
- Demonstrates ability to work with geriatric patients and patients of all ages.
- Stocks supplies on an ongoing basis to meet current requirements.
- Cleans patient exam rooms in relation to testing and equipment.
- Demonstrates compliance with all safety rules and other policies and procedures.
- Checks expiration dates of medications and supplies and follows up appropriately according to established guidelines and policies.
Requirements
- Regular travel to satellite locations may be required.
