About the Role
Podium Automation is revolutionizing industrial control panel manufacturing with software-driven design and automated fabrication, aiming to shorten lead times from months to days. As Head of Operations, you will lead the entire operational spectrum, from panel design and fabrication to delivery, reporting directly to the Co-Founder/CEO. This executive role involves building and managing the operational backbone of a rapidly growing hardware company, overseeing production facilities, supply chain, procurement, and site selection.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end production operations across all current and future Podium facilities, ensuring output, quality, and throughput.
- Build and continuously improve manufacturing processes, workflows, and quality systems for scaling operations.
- Recruit, develop, and lead a world-class operations team, including facility general managers, production supervisors, and technicians.
- Partner with engineering to drive DFM (design for manufacturability) and maintain a strong product-production feedback loop.
- Lead all procurement and sourcing for components, materials, and equipment, managing vendor relationships.
- Drive strategic vendor negotiations to optimize cost, lead time, and supply reliability.
- Build resilient supply chain systems capable of handling disruptions and supporting rapid product iteration.
- Develop and manage inventory strategies, demand planning, and materials forecasting.
- Own site selection and buildout for new manufacturing facilities.
- Develop criteria, processes, and execution plans for evaluating and establishing new production sites.
- Manage relationships with landlords, contractors, and local stakeholders.
- Ensure all sites meet safety, compliance, and operational standards.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in manufacturing, industrial equipment, or related sectors.
- Demonstrated track record of scaling manufacturing operations from early-stage to meaningful volume.
- Deep expertise in supply chain management, strategic sourcing, and vendor negotiation in a hardware context.
- Experience selecting and establishing new manufacturing facilities or sites.
- Strong people leadership skills, including team building, talent development, and effective operation across hourly and salaried workforces.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and a startup environment, with the ability to define processes.
- Analytical and data-driven approach, with the ability to define and track operational KPIs.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills with engineering, finance, and leadership.
- Background in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience in electrical equipment, industrial automation, or control systems manufacturing (Nice to Have).
- Experience with ERP (Odoo) or MES systems in a manufacturing context (Nice to Have).
