About the Role
The Internship Manager for Humanities and Social Sciences will develop and manage career development, internship and experiential learning initiatives for the College of Arts & Sciences. This role aims to expand access to meaningful, career-connected experiences for students and help them translate academic learning into career opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group career coaching to undergraduate students, graduate students and alumni.
- Support students with career exploration, identifying and articulating transferable skills, internship and job search strategies, and networking.
- Prepare students to become competitive applicants for internships and employment.
- Identify and connect students with internship opportunities.
- Develop strong relationships with faculty and academic departments to support career readiness and experiential learning.
- Collaborate with faculty on credit-bearing internships and other experiential learning opportunities.
- Design and implement in-person and virtual career readiness programs.
- Develop programs that help students connect academic knowledge and transferable skills to career pathways.
- Collect, track, and analyze internship and experiential learning data.
- Participate in professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to the Division of Student Affairs and Stony Brook University by attending and/or supporting events, activities, and programs.
- Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
- Three (3) years of full-time administrative work experience (student experience may be considered).
- Experience in higher education, public service, non profit or related field.
