About the Role
The Client Transportation Specialist is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation for clients of the Emergency Shelter, supporting continuity of client services by coordinating and providing transportation throughout the community. The Specialist works closely with shelter staff to support client schedules, safety, and access to essential services while representing LifeWorks in a professional and client-centered manner.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates transportation for clients to various activities including school, appointments, job interviews, and medical visits.
- Provides safe, timely, and dependable transportation using personal and agency vehicles, adhering to safety procedures.
- Communicates with shelter staff regarding transportation schedules, changes, delays, and client needs.
- Maintains professional boundaries and provides client-centered support during transportation.
- Completes required transportation documentation, vehicle logs, mileage records, and incident reports accurately.
- Conducts basic pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks and reports maintenance or safety concerns.
- Follows all traffic laws, LifeWorks policies, confidentiality requirements, and safety expectations.
- Supports varying transportation needs based on client schedules and shelter operations.
- Assists with basic administrative tasks or program-related errands if client transport is not needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and navigate the community.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients, coworkers, schools, service providers, and community partners.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, reliability, and sound judgment when supporting clients.
