About the Role

Austin Commercial is seeking a Project Engineer II in Austin, TX. We are a leading construction firm committed to safety, service, and integrity, offering employees a vested interest in our success.

Responsibilities

• Notify subcontractors of commencement dates and solicit delivery schedules from suppliers to expedite deliveries and avoid construction delays.
• Participate in detailed estimating of cost and construction time for proposed changes, potentially negotiating change orders with owners and updating contract plans and master schedules.
• Prepare submittal schedules to meet construction timelines, coordinate submissions with subcontractors, and ensure accuracy and timely delivery of submittals.
• Prepare and oversee the preparation of project reports, including material logs, submittal logs, RFI logs, drawing logs, and long-lead items logs.
• Assist the project manager in preparing subcontracts, resolving interpretation or execution issues, and alerting to unresolved problems with proposed solutions.
• Verify monthly subcontractor payment requests.
• Assist in locating suppliers for building materials and review invoices for quantity, quality, and price verification.
• Respond to requests for information (RFIs) from owners and subcontractors, preparing RFIs for architects or engineers when necessary, and ensuring responses are routed appropriately.
• Compile close-out documents, including as-built drawings, guarantees, warranties, and service manuals, and assist in preparing Austin’s warranty.
• Participate in jobsite safety as outlined in the company’s Safety & Health Manual.
• When not assigned to a project, prepare detailed cost estimates, assist with value engineering, and interact with various construction professionals.

Requirements

• B.S. in construction management/science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2 years of work experience in the construction industry.
• Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training required (may obtain within first year of employment).
• Experience with RFIs, submittals, and punch lists.
