About the Role
The Finance Data Governance (FDG) team is leading the effort to define the future roadmap for data governance within Finance, ensuring trusted information is used for critical processes, decision making, and accounting. As an FDG analyst, you will be part of a growing team of data management professionals focused on providing world-class data management and data governance solutions. You will partner closely with Finance Technology Transformation, Enterprise Data Governance, Controllership, Risk, and other teams to drive data governance and data quality within Finance. The FDG analyst is a collaborator, a well-organized, action-oriented team player with strong time management skills, confident in presenting, facilitating, and building a network of strong relationships across our organization.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Finance Data Governance in compliance with the Enterprise Data Governance Policy, including accountability models and processes for data asset management, metadata management, data quality, and issue resolution.
- Produce data quality scorecards, dashboards, analytical reports, and attestation packages for all in-scope processes.
- Identify Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and data sources, translating governance and regulatory requirements into actionable data requirements.
- Perform root-cause analysis of data quality issues and assist in the remediation of Audit and Regulatory feedback.
- Support strategic improvements to the data assessment process and implement necessary enhancements to data analytical and data quality tools.
- Continue to support current Regulatory Reporting needs via existing platforms, collaborating with upstream data providers, downstream business partners, and technologies.
Requirements
- 2+ years of Finance experience; Controllership preferred.
- Strong communication and cross-functional partnership skills.
- Proficiency in SQL, AI, and Excel for large-scale data analysis.
- Self-motivated with strong project and time-management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions.
- Data governance and data quality experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Agile/SAFe methodologies.
- Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
