About the Role
AMD is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our People Analytics team and help advance a modern HR data platform built on Microsoft Fabric. The platform transforms SuccessFactors and related HR source data into governed workforce data that powers Power BI reporting and a natural-language analytics assistant. As the platform’s second engineer and co-owner, you will work closely with the platform architect to extend the transformation layer, strengthen data quality and testing, and help evolve a rapidly built proof of concept into a hardened, well-documented, enterprise-grade system.
Responsibilities
- Own and extend the dbt Fabric transformation layer and medallion architecture models.
- Write clean, portable, high-performing, and well-tested SQL using practices such as window functions, incremental loading, and slowly changing dimensions.
- Build and maintain automated data quality checks, validation controls, and an evaluation framework.
- Maintain and improve Bronze-layer ingestion from HRIS source systems using Python and PySpark notebooks.
- Contribute to the Power BI semantic layer, including TMDL-defined models, DAX measures, and row-level security.
- Document data rules, models, lineage, operating procedures, and platform knowledge.
- Work within Git and Azure DevOps development workflows that support CI/CD and SOX-style controls.
- Partner with the platform architect and HR stakeholders to independently operate and extend core data models and support reliable day-to-day pipeline performance.
Requirements

- Comfortable absorbing complex, domain-specific business logic and translating it into clear, maintainable data models and documentation.
