About the Role

Focus Features is seeking a hard-working, creative, and passionate publicist with experience executing all facets of theatrical publicity campaigns. The ideal candidate must have strong editorial relationships and prior experience pitching and securing coverage for talent, filmmakers, and events/stunts. This role involves pitching, securing, and planning publicity campaigns for theatrical releases, requiring effective teamwork and project management in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute publicity campaigns for theatrical releases, including pitching and securing A-list editorial and bookings.
  • Oversee preview issues & specials and secure exclusive placement of assets.
  • Work with project agencies hired to execute campaign strategy.
  • Manage press for special events, screenings, and premieres, including red carpet coverage and guest invitations.
  • Coordinate press days and junkets, handling talent schedules, pitching, securing press, and scheduling interviews.
  • Troubleshoot with talent representatives as necessary.
  • Create and manage publicity office budgets, liaising with the finance team for updates and reports.
  • Track spending with the publicity team.
  • Pitch and monitor editorial special issues.
  • Collaborate in executing awards campaign strategy throughout a project’s life cycle.
  • Cover talent/filmmakers at television shows, special appearances, press junkets/press days, guild screenings, and film classes.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of publicity agencies.
  • Provide daily oversight and direction from senior leadership.
  • Participate in publicity and marketing brainstorms.
  • Collaborate with international, awards, and digital publicity teams to communicate overall campaign initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in film publicity.
  • Direct experience pitching and securing editorial coverage.
  • Experience working on awards campaigns.
  • Prior experience working with agencies and talent representatives.
  • Strong working relationships with journalists, talent representatives, and guilds.
  • Prior experience organizing and executing events and premieres.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel where required.
