About the Role
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the housekeeping department to maintain high standards of service and cleanliness. Provide direction and support to Room Attendants and Housemen, ensuring the department runs smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Inspect all showrooms, out of order and vacant clean rooms at the start of the day.
- Prepare and record daily floor assignments.
- Obtain lists of rooms to be cleaned immediately and check-outs to prepare work assignments.
- Inspect landings and pantries for proper par stocks and ensure high cleanliness standards.
- Inspect and update vacant clean rooms in the computer.
- Perform daily written room inspections to ensure guest rooms are maintained in perfect condition.
- Ensure all guest rooms have proper furniture, fixtures, and amenities according to set standards.
- Strategize Room Attendants to clean priority rooms, rush rooms, and VIP guests first.
- Check all due out rooms three times daily and ensure all check-outs are cleared by 6 pm.
- Re-check rooms upon guest departure for any forgotten items.
- Maintain a database of guest preferences.
- Report all room discrepancies with the front desk daily before the end of the shift.
- Report Engineering deficiencies daily to the Housekeeping Office Coordinator.
- Engage with guests and employees in a professional, service-oriented manner.
- Report and handle all guest requests, complaints, and service-related issues.
- Make recommendations to improve service and operational efficiency.
- Implement and assign cyclical cleaning programs to Housemen.
- Perform a variety of guest requests and think creatively to establish memorable experiences.
- Maintain professional relationships with internal and external contacts.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with all hotel departments.
- Inform Housekeeping Management of any absence from duty and reasons or request additional days off.
- Assist with disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Assist with interviews and the new hiring process.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Comply with all hotel and departmental standards, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor.
- Adhere to Fairmont Grooming Standards at all times.
- Observe health and safety guidelines at all times.
- Wear safety equipment and/or protection if required.
Requirements
- Knowledge of hotel PMS System, Microsoft Office computer applications, and office equipment.
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Outstanding guest service skills.
- Guest-oriented, enthusiastic with a vibrant personality.
- Must have a "hands on" approach.
- Must maintain composure at all times and work objectively in stressful, high-pressure situations.
- Ability to approach all encounters with guests and employees in a professional manner.
- Ability to answer all general inquiries in the Hotel and F&B outlet.
- Must be a good listener and able to follow instructions.
- Must be able to utilize all available resources to meet guest needs.
- Must be a good team player.
- Minimum two years of relevant experience in a luxury hotel (5 diamond or 5 star standards) or comparable environment.
- Prior experience in a Union Environment highly preferred.
- Frequently standing and walking around the property.
- Carrying or lifting items up to 50 lbs.
- Pushing or pulling items weighing approx. 200 lbs.
- Frequently bending, kneeling, stretching, and/or reaching.
- Able to perform tasks higher than floor level.
