About the Role

CASES is seeking a Case Coordinator for their Brooklyn Pretrial Services team. This role involves conducting Supervision Introduction/Orientation meetings, assisting participants with compliance to court appearances and supervision appointments, and performing ongoing service need assessments. The goal is to help participants comply with their supervision plan, reduce recidivism, and achieve their self-identified goals through strengths-based, gender-specific, and culturally sensitive services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and community-based services to a caseload of pretrial participants.
  • Rapidly conduct Supervision Introduction/Orientation meetings with new participants to review supervision conditions, reporting schedule, and communication methods.
  • Collaborate with the court and pretrial staff to ensure participants' successful completion of mandated supervision appointments and court appearances.
  • Review legal and court screening documentation to analyze offending behavior patterns and identify supports to reduce pretrial arrests.
  • Conduct ongoing service need assessments to examine psychosocial needs, including mental and substance use disorders, and motivation for treatment.
  • Link participants to treatment based on eligibility, preferences, and needs, and provide escort to community services.
  • Ensure timely flow of community outreach and case management activities to meet program goals.
  • Utilize problem-solving techniques and motivational interviewing to motivate and engage individuals in change processes.
  • Provide services in a gender-responsive, trauma-informed manner adhering to risk-need-responsivity principles.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with community providers.
  • Follow program community-based monitoring protocols for high-risk and high-need participants and participate in case reviews.
  • Enter assessment, supervision reporting, and progress note documentation into the program database.
  • Conduct all electronic charting and reporting in accordance with confidentiality regulations.
  • Meet monthly case management contact and outreach goals.
  • Provide culturally competent services in accordance with CASES policies.
  • Perform other duties as required by supervisory staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience, or an Associate’s Degree with a minimum of three years' experience working in human services with individuals with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, and involvement in the criminal justice system.
  • Extensive knowledge of community treatment, support services, and resources.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system, court processes, and alternative to detention/incarceration services.
  • Experience using databases such as Salesforce.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods.
