About the Role

As an internal compensation expert for assigned client portfolios within Canadian Operations, you will leverage market insights and compensation expertise to provide strategic advice on complex compensation decisions. You will be a trusted advisor, building strong partnerships with HR and business leaders to shape compensation solutions that attract, retain, and reward talent. By gaining a deep understanding of the business and its strategic priorities, you will offer practical, data-driven recommendations that drive organizational success while balancing market competitiveness, internal equity, and sound governance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day compensation advisory services for assigned portfolios, serving as a trusted advisor to HR partners, Talent Acquisition teams, and senior leaders on complex compensation decisions, compensation governance, and market competitiveness strategies that support talent attraction, retention, and engagement.
  • Gain a deep understanding of client businesses and strategic priorities to provide credible and relevant compensation advice, reviews, and project completion that align with organizational needs.
  • Participate in salary surveys, analyze and interpret market data, and leverage external networks to identify best practices and monitor emerging industry trends.
  • Collaborate with HR partners and business leaders on job architecture topics, including job evaluation, to ensure job architecture standards are maintained and roles are appropriately updated and aligned with compensation philosophy, market practices, and governance requirements.
  • Prepare and present compensation analyses, reports, dashboards, and insights to support decision-making for HR partners, business leaders, and senior stakeholders.
  • Support client groups throughout the annual compensation cycle and collaborate with other centers of excellence to ensure effective program administration and a positive employee experience.
  • Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, automation, and innovative solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of compensation programs.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline.
  • At least seven years of progressive compensation experience, including advising senior leaders on complex compensation issues, market competitiveness, compensation governance, and job evaluation.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Chartered Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation, or advanced progress towards one, is a strong asset.
  • Proven experience providing strategic compensation advice and recommendations to HR partners, business leaders, and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation principles, market benchmarking, compensation governance, job evaluation methodologies, compensation analysis, and risk management practices.
  • Proven ability to conduct job evaluations, interpret market data, and translate complex compensation insights into practical business recommendations.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and sound judgment when handling confidential information and sensitive matters.
  • Excellent consulting, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and lead complex discussions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with large, complex datasets.
  • Experience supporting job architecture frameworks and organizational design initiatives is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (proficient in French and English, oral and written) is required for Quebec only, as the incumbent will regularly serve both French and English-speaking clients.
