About the Role
The Security Officer provides essential health, safety, and security services to clients in public environments, prioritizing the well-being of employees, visitors, and customers.
Responsibilities
- Monitor assigned areas visually, electronically, or audibly through roving patrols or other designated assignments.
- Ensure personal actions and those of others comply with safety and security standards.
- Verbally de-escalate situations to maintain safety.
- Examine doors, windows, and other areas to ensure they are secure.
- Report and record property damage and unusual occurrences according to company policies.
- Warn violators of rule infractions and apprehend or expel them if necessary.
- Notify on-site individuals of visitor arrivals.
- Respond to emergencies and disasters to preserve life and property, including fire safety and active shooter protocols.
- Perform routine input and monitoring of safety and life support computer programs.
- Issue and record ID badges.
- Check the operational status of safety and life support systems.
- Notify supervisors if safety and sanitation standards are not met.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least two years of security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred.
- A valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three years.
- Must possess a State of New York Security Guard License.
- Ability to cooperate and work as part of a team.
- Ability to make decisions independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to stand and walk for 8-12 hours per shift.
- Must be able to speak, understand, read, and write English.
- Must be safety oriented.
- Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations.
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull, use hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50lbs.
