About the Role

The Operating Engineer will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing building mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort.

Responsibilities

Operate, monitor, and maintain HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, and related mechanical equipment.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems including electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and life safety systems.
Monitor and adjust building automation systems (BAS) to optimize energy efficiency and maintain environmental conditions.
Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues promptly.
Perform emergency repairs and respond to after-hours service calls.
Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs.
Ensure all operations comply with applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Maintain accurate logs, records, and documentation of all maintenance activities.
Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions.
Monitor energy consumption and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
Assist in implementing energy conservation initiatives and sustainability programs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid Operating Engineer license or stationary engineer license as required by local jurisdiction.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in building operations or facilities maintenance.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation systems, electrical systems, and plumbing.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
