About the Role
Founders Classical Academy Online is a tuition-free public charter school serving Texas students in grades K–11. This role involves providing diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech, language, and hearing disorders, helping them adjust and access the general education curriculum. While the position is virtual, travel for in-person state testing and student events will be required.
Responsibilities
- Provide high quality virtual speech-language therapy services to students in grades K-11.
- Conduct assessments, analyze results, and write reports to determine student strengths and concerns.
- Develop strength-based and child/family-centered treatment plans.
- Ensure IEP, ETR, and progress monitoring procedures adhere to district, state, and federal guidelines.
- Collect daily data and adapt treatment based on student performance trends.
- Attend IEP and ETR meetings and provide necessary documentation.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other members of a student’s educational team.
- Act as case manager for students with a Speech and Language disability determination.
- Align treatment objectives with Common Core Standards.
- Guide teachers and educational team members in implementing classroom strategies for skill generalization and identifying students needing evaluation.
- Develop and communicate a daily schedule to building leaders and department supervisors.
- Conduct hearing screenings and interpret results for appropriate referrals.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and pursue professional development.
- Facilitate effective student communication abilities across all modes and levels of language.
- Participate in building-based intervention processes.
- Develop functional use of district software for special education compliance and accountability reporting.
Requirements
- Certification/licensure in the appropriate area.
- Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office Suite, Google applications, e-mail, and internet applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong content knowledge in one or more content areas.
- Genuine care for children and a passion for teaching.
- Strong ability to gather, analyze, and interpret student data to make sound educational decisions.
- Flexibility with regard to decision-making, daily challenges, and job duties.
- Strong sense of integrity.
- Team player attitude.
- Ability to work in a diverse educational community setting.
- Understanding of community and student demographics.
- Understand state proficiency testing and state teaching standards.
- Satisfactory completion of state-required criminal history check and health tests.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
