About the Role
We are seeking a Data Engineer to design and build a unified data platform that consolidates primary research, third-party, financial, and business development data into a single, reliable system. This role focuses on backend data pipelines, databases, and integrations, ensuring data is clean, connected, and reliable for analysis.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a central data warehouse consolidating data from research, finance, deliberation, and business development sources.
- Design ETL/ELT pipelines to reliably ingest data from internal tools and external vendors on a schedule.
- Address inconsistencies between older and newer datasets to enable combined historical and current data analysis.
- Build and maintain APIs to connect internal systems with third-party software.
- Implement access controls and data-handling practices for sensitive financial and confidential records.
- Monitor data quality and troubleshoot pipeline issues.
- Maintain current documentation, including a data dictionary and flow notes.
- Collaborate with BI/reporting tool setup to ensure accurate data feeds for dashboards.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering, backend development, or a closely related role.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and Python.
- Experience building or maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Comfort designing or working with REST APIs and connecting to third-party services.
- Experience with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or similar) or strong SQL fundamentals with a willingness to learn.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Ability to work independently and communicate data issues clearly to non-technical colleagues.
