About the Role
The part-time assistant volleyball coach provides instruction and leadership to student-athletes under the direction of the head coach, focusing on teaching proper techniques and skill development. Responsibilities include planning and executing practice sessions, attending matches, and potentially monitoring academic progress and recruitment.
Responsibilities
- Provides instruction and leadership to student-athletes.
- Teaches proper techniques and skill development in volleyball.
- Plans and executes instructional practice sessions.
- Attends matches.
- Monitors academic progress of student athletes (may include).
- Recruits student athletes (may include).
- Performs other athletic support functions (may include).
- Expresses independent discretion and judgment as to the manner and method of instruction.
- Assesses and cultivates student-athlete proficiency in key areas.
- Takes direction and instruction from the head coach.
- Works independently and as a member of a team.
- Effectively communicates with individuals and groups.
- Performs other duties and functions as needed.
Requirements
- A master’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years related experience is preferred.
- 1 year of college-level athletic coaching is preferred.
- A motor vehicle driving record acceptable to CTX is required.
- Working knowledge of the Concordia University Texas (CTX) vision and mission.
- Understanding of intercollegiate athletic operations, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to articulate and model the Concordia University Texas’ mission, vision, and values.
- Commitment to encouraging and supporting diversity, inclusion, and equity.
- Must be mission-driven with a heart for the Gospel and committed to the Concordia Distinctive.
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
- Ability to lift 20-30 pounds.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel long distances via automobile and/or airplane.
