About the Role
As a Field Interviewer, you will visit selected addresses across an assigned area to conduct in-home research interviews on important topics such as health, housing, and transport. The information collected helps governments, universities, charities, and public bodies make informed decisions to improve services and society. You will guide conversations and digitally capture real experiences of daily life in Britain.
Responsibilities
- Visit selected addresses across an assigned area to carry out in-home research interviews.
- Conduct interviews on issues including health, housing, transport, public services, and everyday life.
- Guide conversations and digitally capture real experiences of daily life.
- Use a NatCen device to guide structured interviews and accurately record responses.
- Plan routes and manage time efficiently for visits.
- Potentially undertake longer journeys and occasional overnight stays for some projects.
Requirements
- A full UK driving license and access to a car.
- Class 1 Business insurance.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Willingness to complete a DBS check.
- Reliable home broadband.
- Minimum 20 hours availability per week.
- Confidence using basic technology.
- Flexibility to work across weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
- Comfortable travelling throughout your assigned area.
- Ability to build trust, ask questions clearly, and listen carefully.
- Ability to represent NatCen professionally.
