About the Role

The Manager of Data Science Analytics collaborates with stakeholders and leads a team to develop sophisticated analytics, providing insights and BI solutions for strategic planning, decision-making, goal setting, and performance measurement. This role is a leader within Population Health Analytics, focused on improving healthcare for patients and providers.

Responsibilities

Partner with stakeholders from Clinical, Managed Care and/or Commercialization departments on analytics projects and the end-to-end analytics project lifecycle.
Lead a team of data scientists, analysts, actuaries, and other team members on analytics projects and routine reporting.
Develop staff understanding of population health, risk arrangements, clinical programs, forecasting, financial modeling, and analysis for business decisions.
Analyze issues using enrollment, claims, clinical, medical management, financial, and other corporate data from internal and external sources.
Assist staff in developing better analysis skills, understanding use cases and their value.
Identify necessary data, data sources, and methodologies.
Collect, organize, integrate, analyze, and interpret data.
Leverage advanced statistical analysis methods to create insightful recommendations and communicate them to stakeholders.
Communicate data issues clearly and work to improve data quality within analytical models.
Feed data quality issues back to IT or data stewards.
Develop and present reports, analyses, and findings to senior management.
Act as a lead for internal stakeholders, understanding their needs and translating them into reporting and analytic solutions.
Effectively communicate with stakeholders and customers, ensuring requests are triaged, recorded, and tracked.
Adhere to corporate standards for performance metrics, data collection, data integrity, query design, and reporting format.
Develop and maintain project work plans, including tasks, milestones, timelines, interdependencies, and contingencies.
Track and report progress, keeping stakeholders informed of project status.
Prepare clear, well-organized project-specific documentation, including analytic methods, decision points, and caveats.
Share development and process knowledge with other managers and analysts.
Demonstrate advanced proficiency with process improvement principles and methodologies.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum of a masters degree in a relevant field of study or ASA/FSA Actuarial certification.
At least ten (10) years of analytics development experience for a health provider, health plan or accountable care organization.
PhD, ASA/FSA, MD or DO program may be substituted for 3 years of experience.
At least two (2) years of experience formally or informally leading other analysts or interns.
Strong data mining skills using tools like SQL, R, Python, etc.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to perform complex analysis and make recommendations based on statistical inferences.
Experience with a wide variety of analytical or statistical methods.
Strong working knowledge of Business Intelligence products (Tableau).
Excellent oral and writing skills; ability to communicate effectively with varying audiences.
Demonstrated ability to articulate goals, plan and implement processes, recognize and assess the implications of confounding variables, and meet deadlines.
Advanced interpersonal skills (e.g., mediating, mentoring, teaching) required to service internal and external clients effectively.
Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment in developing complex techniques or programs in a dynamic environment.
