About the Role
Bridge creative design, product creation, and the global supply chain for Gap Inc. by building and shipping AI/ML-backed multi-agent workflows that drive production decisions. As a senior, hands-on engineering leader, direct the technical standards of agentic systems for AI-native speed and scale, owning application and data designs, and co-owning the reference architecture and agent framework.
Responsibilities
- Set and enforce engineering standards, contracts, and integration patterns for agentic solutions.
- Establish system quality through evaluation gates like LLM-as-judge and golden datasets.
- Shape the data strategy for ingesting, embedding, structuring, and exposing AI-ready data products.
- Design the agent harness, core orchestrator pattern, semantic/business-context layers, and tool contracts.
- Build and deploy multi-agent systems to orchestrate tool-use and multi-step reasoning across Design, Development, and Sourcing.
- Drive FinOps including cost-aware routing across Vertex Model Garden.
- Collaborate with Trust, Security, and Governance teams to ensure agents are safe and grounded.
- Mentor data and agent engineers by building alongside them.
- Represent agentic engineering in architecture reviews with senior technology leadership.
Requirements
- 12+ years of hands-on experience in software/data/ML engineering.
- Recent experience building and shipping production AI/ML systems, ideally LLM-based agents or multi-agent orchestration.
- Proven track record in a Staff/Principal/Architect role at a large, complex enterprise, setting technical standards.
- Experience with production agents and cloud AI, including orchestration patterns (e.g., LangGraph, custom orchestrators).
- Hands-on depth with at least one major cloud AI stack (GCP/Vertex preferred).
- Experience building or owning LLM-as-judge pipelines, golden datasets, or comparable quality gates for a production AI system.
- Comfortable with conflict and standing behind core design principles and rigor across various teams and leadership levels.
