About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, Core Services, you will help scale the critical infrastructure that powers Iru’s multiple product lines. You will work on the scalability, reliability, and security of Iru’s core shared services as our customer base, traffic, and product surface grow. This role requires participation in an on-call rotation to ensure platform stability and reliability.

Responsibilities

Design and evolve core services to handle growth in customers, devices, and traffic, and plan capacity ahead of demand.
Design, develop, and optimize critical infrastructure components, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and maintainable.
Implement best practices for system architecture and operations, ensuring high availability and performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to enhance the developer experience and introduce new services.
Define and implement best practices in software engineering, CI/CD, and observability.
Analyze and enhance system performance, ensuring low latency, high throughput, and minimal downtime.
Ensure the reliability and uptime of mission-critical services by participating in on-call duties and responding to incidents.

Requirements

5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong proficiency in backend programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, Java, or similar).
Proficiency with AI-driven development methods, such as using AI coding agents to plan, write, test, and review code, with the judgment to verify their output.
Experience working in a B2B SaaS company with multiple product lines.
Deep understanding of service-oriented architecture and microservices best practices.
Prior experience in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
Ability to identify problems/opportunities, break them down into critical parts, and design scalable solutions.
Proven experience scaling production systems, such as handling significant growth in traffic, data volume, or number of services.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and deployment strategies.
Familiarity with content delivery networks (CDNs) and caching strategies.
Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and/or gRPC.
Experience writing unit and integration tests to ensure high-quality software.
Experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or ECS.
Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
Strong experience with peer code reviews, offering and receiving constructive feedback to maintain and elevate coding standards.
