About the Role
The Director of Revenue Management is responsible for maximizing revenue, profit, and market share for rooms and function spaces. This role involves educating others on revenue management processes, including demand, revenue, forecasting, opportunity analysis, and inventory management. The position also collaborates with hotel leaders to identify future markets, guide sales strategies, and set pricing for various customer segments.
Responsibilities
- Maximize revenue, profit, and market share for assigned hotels' rooms and function space.
- Partner with GM and Sales Leaders to ensure strategic business mix and pricing strategies align with market conditions for sell-out efficiency, targeted marketing, and maximized revenue.
- Ensure alignment of pricing strategies with Annual Budget/Business Plans.
- Demonstrate effective leadership through teamwork, initiative, enthusiasm, and motivation.
- Provide sales training to Front Office and Reservation associates.
- Continuously analyze competitive set, price positioning, seasonality, and mix.
- Utilize all available Yield Management tools to maximize efforts.
- Develop appropriate selling strategies, including recommendations on rate, arrival patterns, length of stay, and discount rate availability.
- Manage property participation and production through relevant Internet sites and distribution channels (CRO, GDS, ADS, and Travel Agency Consortiums).
- Build and maintain relationships with OTA Market Managers to ensure optimal representation on third-party websites.
- Develop accurate monthly room revenue forecasts within a 5% margin.
- Review and analyze Online Reputation management tools and online marketing analytics.
- Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
- Participate in task forces and committees as requested.
- Manage direct reports, which may include Group Coordinator, Reservations Sales Agents, Inventory Manager, or Sales Reporting & System Analyst.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of Revenue Management experience required.
- Multi-property experience preferred, but not required.
- Must be extremely confidential and able to manage sensitive and confidential situations tactfully.
- Ability to negotiate, convince, sell, and influence professionals and associates.
- Ability to work under pressure and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to discern/resolve employee complaints and issues.
- Ability to participate in meetings for feedback.
- Ability to review and prepare documentation, including applications, write-ups, and reviews.
Skills
- Excellent knowledge of transient, group, and catering customer segments.
- Excellent personal management skills, including time management and meeting deadlines.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent understanding of total hotel revenue management concepts, processes, and systems.
- Understanding of both Brand strategies and cultures.
- Knowledge of advanced revenue management techniques.
- Excellent reading and effective writing abilities for paperwork, management reports, instructions, and documentation review/preparation.
- Excellent mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
