About the Role
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and inspecting building systems and equipment within the nursing home facility to ensure a safe, comfortable, and compliant environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This role performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and general repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical systems, and facility equipment.
Responsibilities
- Complete light electrical and plumbing work.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, infection control standards, and nursing home policies.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and building systems.
- Monitor facility grounds and perform seasonal maintenance such as snow removal or salting when required.
- Conduct preventive maintenance according to scheduled programs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection records, and work orders.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
- Report safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Requirements
- Knowledge of blueprints, hand tools, power tools, and woodworking power tools required.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull equipment and materials as needed.
