About the Role
Uncommon Schools is seeking dedicated individuals to support our K-12 students in economically disadvantaged communities. This role focuses on providing an exceptional educational experience, closing the college completion gap, and preparing students for success. We offer a supportive environment with opportunities for professional development and a chance to make a lasting difference.
Responsibilities
- Support teachers in managing the aftercare program for the pre-K 4-year-old program.
- Engage students in enriching activities in 1:1, small group, and whole group settings.
- Assist in managing outdoor play.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization to prepare for the next school day.
- Support lead teachers with end-of-day closeout activities.
- Assist students with activities including bathroom support, snack, and rest.
- Ensure student safety at all times during school hours.
Requirements
- Evidence of self-motivation, willingness to be a team player, and a strong sense of personal responsibility.
- Hard-working, urgent, energetic, and willing to learn and adapt.
- Highly reflective and committed to continuous improvement.
- Flexible and enjoys dealing with unpredictability.
- Strong organizational, communication (particularly with children), and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in performing a critical support role.
