About the Role

The Recreation Specialist for Day Habilitation is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing meaningful on-site and community-based recreational activities for individuals attending the Day Habilitation program. This role promotes community inclusion, independence, skill development, and personal choice while ensuring a safe, engaging, and supportive environment. Specialists meeting insurability standards may transport individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement on-site and community-based recreational activities.
  • Promote community inclusion, independence, skill development, and personal choice.
  • Ensure a safe, engaging, and supportive environment.
  • Transport individuals to/from program and within the community if meeting insurability standards.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license meeting WWAARC insurability standards.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of individual and agency information.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to perform essential physical functions, including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, twisting, and extended movement.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English for effective communication and documentation.
