About the Role

As an Operations Engineer, you will lead and manage the lifecycle of challenging cross-functional projects, developing and delivering the next generation of sortation and distribution solutions. You are a customer-obsessed leader integral to planning and implementing facility network infrastructure, including new builds, retrofits, expansions, and program initiatives. You will partner with internal customers and stakeholders to ensure timely project handovers.

Responsibilities

Manage the lifecycle of challenging projects, acting as owner in delivering project objectives and targets.
Participate in engineering reviews and impact proposed solutions on systems architecture and facility processes.
Partner with internal teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to set project priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules.
Lead and coordinate execution efforts for systems and automated equipment designs.
Perform equipment/system installation, throughput, and safety qualifications.
Simplify, optimize, remove bottlenecks, and provide feedback while resolving system problems.
Lead effective meetings by setting objectives, involving the right people, and driving discussions.
Document meeting discussions, decisions, and next steps to ensure alignment.
Communicate project status, risk analysis, and mitigation plans.
Articulate system and/or equipment designs, including layouts, technical specifications, and functional capabilities.
Manage change order controls, purchase orders, and invoice validation/approvals.
Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance engineering and cross-team efficiencies.
Generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions in compressed timeframes.
Manage one or multiple projects varying in scope, complexity, and duration.
Conduct site coordination with operations teams and contractors on project execution.
Review and approve Sorter System Functional specification documents.
Track on-time creation of sorter configurations with internal automation teams.
Brainstorm and develop workaround solutions for project delays or design issues.
Perform systems installation quality, safety, throughput, and performance qualifications.
Support and train other engineering team members using Amazon's standards and guidelines.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field
Experience working with Material handling equipment (MHE)
Knowledge of automated material handling systems, packaging technologies, and storage solutions
Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level
3+ years of experience in industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment
Position includes travel up to 75% (Nationwide). Travel involves air travel to regional airports and driving to site locations.
A valid driver's license is required.
Master's degree in engineering, management, or technology
Experience working with and managing third-party vendors
Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and MS Project) at an advanced level
