About the Role
As a Security Officer City Service Building Control Access in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff. You will communicate professionally, respond to concerns, and document relevant activity.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and/or service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of the shelter location, including common areas, entrances, exits, exterior grounds, and perimeter areas, to help identify and report unusual conditions.
- Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate site contacts and/or emergency services when needed.
- Monitor access points and visitor activity in accordance with site procedures, helping to maintain an orderly environment for residents and staff.
- Document patrols, incidents, observations, and policy-related concerns accurately and promptly in required reports.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
