About the Role
BJ's Wholesale Club is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Produce Associate. This role is crucial for maintaining the quality and presentation of our fresh produce department, ensuring members have access to the best products and a positive shopping experience.
Responsibilities
- Sorts, displays, removes, and replenishes fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Maintains the overall environment of the produce department.
- Provides assistance to Members through product knowledge and customer service.
- Ensures all produce meets or exceeds company quality standards.
- Carries out job functions and responsibilities as assigned.
- Supports the application of club policies, procedures, and compliance.
- Acts with honesty and integrity, addressing member concerns and escalating appropriately.
- Ensures a safe and positive environment for members and team members.

- Maintains visible, accurate signage.
- Keeps the department clean and organized, inside and out.
- Accesses and reads production and/or financial performance reporting for the department.
- Answers member questions, recommends products and safe handling tips, and assists members with finding products.
- Inspects, rotates, and stores produce upon delivery.
- Ensures all received produce meets or exceeds company standards.
- Rotates produce on the sales floor for optimal freshness and variety.
- Ensures cases and display areas are fully stocked.
- Keeps produce displays neat and clean.
- Removes products that are no longer suitable for sale.
- Maintains the produce reserve stock area, dating and rotating back stock items.
- Ensures the storage area is organized and condensed daily.
- Follows established guidelines for disposing of damaged, spoiled, and/or expired products.
- Assists Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing.
- Cleans and sanitizes all produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas.
- Generates signage for produce goods and performs price check functions.
- Ensures all items are accurately priced and signed.
- Maintains all club policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
- Maintains regular, predictable, full attendance.
Requirements
- Work experience in a produce department preferred.
- Knowledge of fruit and vegetables preferred, including seasonal items.
- At least 18 years of age.
